NEW WALK, EMPERIC STUDENT PROPERTY

PROJECT BACKGROUND

134, 136/138 & 160 New Walk are three student accommodation conversions situated in the city centre of Leicester.

The client had minimal fire strategy drawings and therefore initial works involved a full survey across six different buildings to identify the full scope of works. Based on rates supplied, we were able to produce a bespoke pricing document and negotiated the contract.

SERVICES PROVIDED

We were appointed as principal contractor to undertake the installation of missing passive fire protection within the communal areas of each building. Fire doors were remediated to bring them up to compliant standards.

  • A full-time resident liaison officer and site management were provided.
  • A full audit trail and works were recorded on our Firetronic system.

The client wanted to utilise the summer holiday period when occupancy of the flats were reduced. From the initial surveys to completion, we were able to prioritise the works and ensure the tight deadline was achieved.

Managing these schemes with Bede Park resulted in a cost-saving for the client (both management and supervision costs).

ACHIEVEMENTS

Miller Knight strive for success and the highest quality outcome for any contracted services.

  • COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP: We worked closely with the client to ensure progress of the project ran smoothly and to incorporate any further modifications.
  • ON TIME: Project was completed on time to client within the tight timescales of the summer holiday period with no disruption to student living.
