Client: University of Oxford
Value: £330k
Duration: 12 weeks
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Castle Mill is a 437No. bed, ten-block student accommodation development within the University of Oxford campus.
Following a survey that was carried out by a third party, Miller Knight provided a cost-effective solution to rectify the non-compliant and missing fire protection. The contract was secured via a competitive tender process.
SERVICES PROVIDED
- Sealing all missing and non-compliant communal service penetrations throughout the blocks, including compartment walls and floors. This included fire door remediation or replacement within rooms and main corridors.
- A full-time resident liaison officer and site management team was provided. Full audit-trail and works were recorded on our Firetronic system.
- Redecoration and reinstatement works.
- All works were completed in the specified period and certified and signed off with a FIRAS certificate of conformity.
- Working across occupied properties and communal areas, we ensured minimal disruption to the students.
- Operatives followed strict COVID-19 protocols and preventative measures on site, including daily testing.
