PROJECT BACKGROUND

Situated in Nottingham’s historic city centre Lace Market, Nottingham College’s School of Art is a learning hub for over 2,500 students with an interest and passion in art and design.

To support student learning and modernise existing facilities, Nottingham College required extensive refurbishment works to the Grade II listed building, which remained occupied throughout.

SERVICES PROVIDED

Secured via the Pagabo Small Works DPS, Miller Knight were appointed as principal contractor on the scheme to carry out refurbishment works:

  • Full access scaffold, including pavement licenses.
  • Replacement roof insulation and improving thermal performance.
  • Solar PV installation.
  • Refurbishment of timber sash windows, in line with heritage requirements.
  • WC refurbishment, including cubicle, IPS, sanitaryware to all floors.
  • Internal decoration and floor finishes to all teaching spaces.

A phased programme of works was developed and we carried out continuous monitoring and milestone inspections to ensure seamless sequencing and execution of each element of the works. Due to the works taking place on a live campus, our regeneration team undertook extensive planning and logistics management in collaboration with the College’s senior management team to ensure of no disruption to teaching and student exams for the duration of the project.
