PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Circle Health Group offers the UK’s largest national network of private hospitals, offering neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation services and pathway management services.

Located on the outskirts of Sheffield, Thornbury Hospital is part of the Circle Health Group, operating on many different specialities and has a range of facilities, including 77 patient bedrooms, 21 consulting rooms, and four operating theatres.

SERVICES PROVIDED

Following a third-party compartmentation audit which identified insufficient and inadequate passive fire protection within the building, Miller Knight were appointed as principal contractor to carry out all remedial passive fire protection works.

Scope of works included:

  • Sealing unprotected service penetrations and voids across the hospital patient wards, private bedrooms, reception areas, operating theatres, patient treatment rooms, plant rooms, and patient record areas.
  • Extensive planning and logistics management.
  • Daily liaison and planning with the facility teams to agree of work zones to reflect changes arising from hospital operations.

  • PHASED WORKING: To minimise disruption in a live working environment and support COVID 19 restrictions, we worked collaboratively with the client to structure works to minimise disruption.
  • SENSITIVE WORKING: We shaped and adapted our working practices to adhere to the sensitive working environment we operated in, in order to minimise disruption and remain operational.
